The Spring 2007 Eddie Bauer Catalog ... the SunDance Catalog for Spring 2007 ... Title9 from last Summer ... ~ do you know what these publications have in common? They all feature all-to-familiar renditions of pieces that JewelCat Designs has done IN THE PAST! For example, the Spring 2007 Eddie Bauer catalog has a long Blue Quartz station necklace that is long enough to wrap around the neck twice. We had a version in Amethyst last Fall that was our original design, and it wrapped once, twice or three times around the neck for a layered look. They also have some coin pearl pieces that are shockingly similar to some JewelCat Designs from 2004 & 2005 lines.

I say this only to say ~ the cogs of Corporate America turn slowly, and custom-crafted artisan jewelry is for living in the moment. And in this case, we have predicted at least 4 major jewelry trend styles between the publications listed alone. So if you want mass-produced, copy-cat jewelry... then the bigger companies have exactly what you're looking for.

COLOR ~ WOO HOO, IT'S BACK IN FASHION!

Have you noticed that rich, vibrant colors are back in fashion? Suddenly, it's like colorful accents... hats, jewelry, scarves... are all back! Be sure to check out our website throughout this Holiday Gift-Giving Season, but stay with us throughout this 2006 to 2007 Winter Season. It is my hope that we can brighten the dark days of Winter with some gorgeous little sparklers and shiny gemstone baubles that will lift your spirits and make you "feel" as pretty as you really are!

NEWSFLASH: THE BROOCH IS BACK!

Finally! After what seems to be ages of slumbering in the fashion abyss, brooches and pins are back in the lime light of fashion once again! Ten years ago, grandmothers couldn't give their antique pins and brooches away, and now everyone is clamoring for that same look! Rhinestones and gemstones and filligree and Marcasite and Diamonds, Oh My! There are so many options!

Brooches are great as signature pieces, because of their nature: they are semi-permanent when you want them to be so. For example, I love to put a brooch or bar pin on my winter wool coat, on the lapel or just next to that area. It adds a unique flare to your coat, and in the coat check area of any winter party, nobody will mistake their black coat for yours, as it will be set apart by a touch of sparkle!

Bar Pins can be a great alternative to necklaces if you're not a chain or pendant kind of person. I know gals who prefer pins and brooches simply because there isn't a lot of movement to fuss with throughout the day. I know many a professional woman who looks super-sharp wearing a well-placed, hand-selected pin.

Brooches don't have to be expensive to be beautiful! Hundreds of dollars is highly unnecessary when selecting a nice brooch. You want quality, but be sure you don't get so caught up in the $500 bar pin, that you end up with something you are afraid to take out of the safety deposit box!

Fashion Trends & Tribulation

This season, a lot of old familiar fashion favorites are being reborn. Military influence is strong, with earthtone browns, greens and navy blues hitting the fashion merchandising set like hasn't been seen since the grunge epidemic of the early 1990's, which was launching from a happier brand of fashion flare using similar colors in the late 1980's.

The problem with grunge, is it make all of the clothing dark and feel ~ well ~ depressing. This is of course, what the pop generation wanted at the time, but it doesn't a lovely wardrobe make.

That is, of course, unless you add as splash of lively color here and there. Personally, I don't wear a lot of bright colors in clothing ~ I have always had fairly simple, classic tastes. When a new fad comes out, I look for the influence ~ the underlying mood. Is it romantic? Bold? Independent? Bright? Dark? Slim or Loose-fit, etc. Then I purchase a couple of pieces in that genre in order to add to the classics I already build on as a staple wardrobe. It's a great way to save on the basics, so you can have some fun with accessorizing ~ which is really what builds "character" in a wardrobe anyway!

Scarves, sash belts, unique shoes (but be comfortable, gals!) and of course my favorite ~ JEWELRY ~ add to a wardrobe to maximize your look as well as make it uniquely your own!
