June Brides are considered to be the hallmark, beautiful creatures with much grace and youth and beauty. June Brides wear beautiful clothing and carry gorgeous flowers. June Brides are adored by all, and symbolize a promising future of all things good and true.

Unfortunately, many think that's where it ends... but that is just the beginning! June Brides shouldn't be alone to take the glory of those descriptors, anyway! Those of us who aren't paying $25K for a wedding this month deserve to feel loved and honored and cherished just as much as the next gal, right? Can I get an AMEN? LOL.

HEY MAY BABY!

May Babies, you've got it easy! One of the most beautiful natural gemstones is YOUR birthstone! I love the Emerald ~ natural and vibrant, and its inclusions personify the stone ~ adds a humanity to it that is hard to deny ~ and who'd want to? The neat thing about Emeralds is that if they are left even in the rough without fancy cuts and treatments, they have a gorgeous green color that makes other stones envious, but not green with envy. ;-)

Many people shy away from Emerald, claiming that it's too soft and expensive... whine moan, whine whine. The real story on Emerald is that yes, it is softer than some gemstones, but it is in fact, harder than some marshmallows ~ what I'm saying is that it's perfectly good for use in jewelry! Just don't use it in your wedding ring if you are hard on your jewelry... wear this precious stone in pendants or earrings instead. But don't pass it up because of its softer property.

Emeralds can be cared for properly by soft water rinses, and never the use of abrasives or harsh chemical solutions.

SPRING 2006

SPRING IS ~ SPRINGING?

So it's not quite time for the Mount Vernon Tulip Festival yet, and school's not even close to being out yet ~ but Spring is definitely in the air. Those first beautiful fragrances of life returning to the plants, wafting in the evening air.

This is generally a time when folks spend more time outdoors, as it should be. So for Spring this year, our jewelry will reflect that shift in thought ~ to the out of doors. Many floral bloom designs in a variety of manifestations from Jade to Garnet to Moonstone to Emerald to... well, you name it.

Easter and Mother's Day are around the corner, so be thinking about planning ahead for those, if you exchange gifts on those special days. And even if you don't generally do that, it might be nice to surprise that special gal in your life with something beautiful this season.

VALENTINE'S DAY

THE PERFECT 'EXCUSE'...

It's official. Winter is in full swing. It's a cold, cloudy day, and there's not a lot going on but gray sky and some cold air ~ and more gray sky. Oh, and did I mention the gray? But why does that have to be a bad thing?

The way I see it, Winter is a really fun time of the year, with its lack of colorful leaves and flowers... its complete disregard for the rest of the seasons. Why? Because it allows us to color our own world ~ it's a neutral pallette, and we can add whatever we like with the creativity God gave us. People do this in a myriad of ways: visual art (paintings/sketches), interior decorating, winter vacations to warm climates, culinary arts (color/warm comfort foods) and fashion.

"Fashion," one might think. "So what am I supposed to do? Buy a flourescent pink wardrobe or something?" Absolutely not ~ unless you want to, of course. But that's probably not within the typical office list of acceptable attire. ;-) Using jewelry and accessories like scarves, wraps and other color accent pieces can add a lot of color, and still works in with all of those blue, gray, black, brown and khaki pants and skirts I know we all have in our closets for the dreary winter months.

Spring isn't awake from her slumber quite yet, but we don't have to cater to the dark days of winter ~ spice it up! This is a great time to add to your jewelry wardrobe for any reason... any excuse will do, right? Hint, hint... Valentine's Day is coming up... gee, that sounds like the perfect excuse to buy some pretty new jewelry, doesn't it?

Whew, this Christmas season has been fun! Some of the special request items were truly my favorites, and thanks to you guys and gals with those great ideas out there! FINDING TREASURE...

This fall, we're doing a lot of cool things with some really hot gemstones color combinations! If you haven't already, you have to see our Sphere Cage Pendant & Necklace designs... search for item T72 in the keyword search to see one... it's amazing! Ruby, Sapphire and Spessartite Garnet... it's absolutely an incredible combination of colors, and it looks like a blazing fire!

SOMETHING OTHER THAN JEWELRY?

JewelCat Designs is branching out just a little. Besides being hopeless gemstone junkies around here, we're also tea junkies! That's right ~ forget the coffee, and bring on the tea! But who made the rule that one has to use those tiny teacups to enjoy their tea in? Who says you re-fill four times? We much prefer the Jumbo Mug Method! Use a large, bright-colored mug to enjoy your tea (or even your coffee) in!

As the Fall/Winter season kicks off, I hope to carry more mugs and hopefully a few teapots in the mix. It will be a lot of fun! Be sure to look for the hot new color for this year: LEMON YELLOW! If you have special colors you would like to see us carry in teaware, or special requests for particular tea service items, contact us! We may have what you're looking for. And if we don't carry it, we'll try and find it for you!
